Dynamic Duo! Nature Printing on Colored Backgrounds

  • Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This two-day class will let you dive deep into the world of natural dyes and the modern process of eco-printing by combining two techniques.

We'll begin our workshop by exploring different natural dyes, mordants and color modifiers, learning what they are and how to work with them to color several silk scarves.  After day one, you will have a thorough understanding of how to successfully apply natural color to fabric and the ways those colors can be changed.

Please bring an old white sheet to class (which will be used in the dye process), sturdy work gloves to prevent blisters and plastic gloves to keep hands clean.

Class will be 10a-4p on Saturday and 10a-5p on Sunday!

Register directly through Shake Rag Alley.  You'll find the link once you click on the image!

Ecoprinting: Dyeing Scarves Naturally

I'm bringing my popular workshop that I typically teach at Shake Rag Alley in Mineral Point, WI to a new location in Waterloo, Iowa!

Eco-printing is a natural-dye technique using bundled plant material to color fabric.
We’ll spend the day learning how to identify dye plants and how to eco-print. You’ll leave class with two silk scarves and the ability to take your skills home and work with your local plants. Please bring a pair of sturdy work gloves to class.  Follow the link for cost and to register. Look forward to seeing you there!
